ISKCON Hawaii Honolulu

ISKCON Hawaii Honolulu Since 1969, His Divine A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder-acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, has been distributing the matchless gifts of Krishna Consciousness throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Wherever he traveled in the world, Srila Prabhupada devoted the early morning hours to translating and expounding India’s ancient Vedic literature. Between 1974 and 1976, His Divine Grace performed that sacred duty especially swiftly here in Hawaii, in his room upstairs.

His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada

That is how these grounds became a tirtha, a holy place. As King Yudhisthira said to the Sage Vidura: “My lord, devotees like your good self are verily holy places personified. Because you carry the Personality of Godhead within your heart, you turn all places into places of pilgrimage.”

When you visit the temple room, gift shop, or Prabhupada’s room, now a library filled with his writings, pick up one of his books and taste his devotional ecstasies. They are spiritual windows, enriching our vision of the Lord’s Deity forms in the temple, beheld by His Divine Grace’s own image, “the master at whose feet all masters sit.”

If you feel Srila Prabhupada’s spiritual presence at his tirtha, it is not surprising. As the great vaishnava saint Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura wrote: “He reasons ill who tells that vaishnavas die when thou art living still in sound. The vaishnavas die to live and living tries to spread the holy name around.”
